If you are running Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3), you
do not have to install Automatic Updates. Windows automatic updating is
included in Windows 2000 SP3.
Please see the steps below to set up automatic
security updates on our computer:
- Click Start.
- Next, click Control Panel.
- Select Let Windows keep my computer
up-to-date.
- Select a setting.
Note: Microsoft recommends selecting
Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I
specify option and setting a daily update time.
- Choose Automatically download the updates and
install them on a schedule that I specify.
- Select Every day from the drop-down menu.
- Select a time from the drop-down menu for the
update.
Important notes to remember:
- It is important to note that you can schedule
Automatic Updates for any time of day but we recommend choosing a time when you
will not be using the computer for other tasks.
- Remember, your computer must be on at the
scheduled time for updates to be installed.
- Click OK.
If you choose to have Automatic Updates notify you in step
5, you will see a notification balloon when new downloads are available
to install.
- Click the notification balloon to review and
install updates.
- Click the balloon to install new updates.
